2018

It is hard to believe we are already half-way through 2018, an inspiring and energizing year, which has to date been characterised by encouraging developments in South Africa’s political landscape, accompanied by renewed impetus in economic growth. This of course has had positive spin-offs for the lighting sector and it has certainly been full steam ahead!

On a global scale, industry trends in the lighting industry are constantly evolving. As a company which pursues a dynamic and aggressive approach to business, we at Province ensure we keep pace with international technological developments in today’s highly competitive world.  This enables us to bring clients the latest innovations in technology.

Our trip to the inspiring Light & Building Fair 2018 in Frankfurt highlighted trends, such as state-of-the-art, anti-glare office Luminaires and the incorporation of Circadian cycle.  Also displayed was the use of ‘Light in Motion’, which creates dynamic lighting effects for Outdoor and Facade lighting installations.

However in the midst of these phenomenal new developments which we are committed to incorporating into our business, there is an unwavering and constant component that we uphold.  This is our fundamental customer-centric approach and our complete dedication to client service.

We focus on growing strong working relationships and forming client/supplier partnerships in order to help you, our clients, to ‘enlighten your world’ and optimise your businesses through illumination.  Integral to this is two-way communication and we welcome input or queries from you as to your individual and most important requirements.

We would love to get to know you better.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us to chat about your lighting needs.

Frankfurt Lighting Fair

Eight of our staff members attended the highly impressive Light & Building Fair in Frankfurt in March this year.  It showcased the latest developments in outdoor lighting, retail solutions, LED extrusion and office illumination in the world market.  It was a tremendous experience to interact directly with industry players from all corners of the world.

There have certainly been some highly impressive developments and our objective is to bring these technological trends to South Africa.  Together with our local LED manufacturing company, Electric Blue, we will be able to make them available here.

  • • Light & Building 2018 revealed a move away from the standard recessed LED office fittings
(LED panel) to the use of office fittings with special lenses which facilitate an anti-glare effect.

  • • When it comes to LED extrusion, we saw the global market increasingly incorporating the use of curved
      design diffusers and profiles.

  • • Automation:  All the larger lighting manufacturers focused on Smart Solutions and Internet of Things (IoT)
devices to be incorporated into their lighting products and installations.  The IoT consists of all the
web-enabled devices that collect, send and act on data they acquire from their surrounding environments
allowing for intelligent lighting control and smart solutions.

  • • Furthermore, global players are increasingly incorporating KNX solutions into their products to enhance
home and building control.  These solutions ensure that different products and systems from different
manufacturers can be deployed in one common network to operate and communicate with one another and
be used in a range of applications.

  • • International lighting name brands are also gearing up for the new DALI2 protocol for their products.  DALI2 is
expected to significantly improve additional functionality.
