The directors of Province Lighting (Pty) Ltd are pleased to announce the acquisition by Symion (RF) (Pty) Ltd of an interest in the Province Group of companies (comprising Province Lighting’s companies in South Africa, Namibia and EB LED (Pty) Ltd). Symion is a commercial and industrial technology group focused on the optimisation of physical spaces through technology and the promotion of smarter buildings, factories, campuses and cities. The group provides specialised products and services in the fields of: safety and security technology; robotics, automation and intelligent manufacturing; smart buildings and cities; and renewable energy generation, storage and electric vehicle infrastructure. The investment by Symion in the Province Group establishes a strong partnership between South Africa’s preeminent commercial, industrial, retail lighting and building automation specialist and a fast-growing, future-focused technology group. This partnership presents significant opportunities for collaboration between the parties and ultimately delivering optimal, holistic and cost-effective solutions for clients. The existing management shareholders of Province Group, being Jurgen Chemelli (co-founder and MD of Province Group), Jannie Malan, Dereck Abbey and Kevin Murphy all remain significant shareholders in the business and integrally involved in the business development and operations of Province Group. As part of the deal, members of Symion’s management team will be joining them on the board of directors of the Province Group. Commenting on the transaction, Chemelli said:
